These are the plain-English terms that govern bidding on Brand the Device.
The auction. 8 ad spots on the lid of one 16-inch MacBook Pro M5 Pro (64GB / 2TB). The highest accepted bid per spot at the close wins. The close time is shown on the page countdown.
Funding, not ownership. The founder does not currently own the laptop. All proceeds go toward buying it; if the raise falls short, the founder tops up the difference so the exact listed machine ships.
Floor & refunds. A$3,740 is the go/no-go floor. If the auction settles below it, every deposit is refunded in full and no machine is purchased. Above the floor, deposits are non-refundable except as stated here.
Deposits. A winning bid requires a 20% refundable deposit at the time you bid. If you are outbid, your deposit is returned in full. If you win, it counts toward your total and you're invoiced for the remainder.
Manual approval. The founder reviews every sponsor and may refuse a bid for any reason; refused bids are refunded in full. The founder has final say on what appears on the lid.
Your logo. You retain all rights to your logo. You grant the founder a limited licence to print it as a vinyl sticker on this one lid and show it in photos/posts of that lid. You approve a placement mock before printing.
No guarantee of results. The founder makes no promise of impressions, clicks, ROI, or audience size. You're buying placement on a real, travelling laptop, not advertising metrics.
Tax. Amounts are in AUD. The founder is responsible for Australian income tax on the raise; any GST obligations (if registered) are handled separately. Sponsors should seek their own tax advice.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
